Confidence and Independence (understanding)
At first my confidence was up in the air. I never wrote poetry. Im the kind of guy that keeps hallmark in
business. If i want to say something i just took the easy way and just find the card that express my feelings.
When we started the poetry units i was out of my comfort zone. I really or it seems that i feel lost and my students
are not getting the full benefit of poetry. I feel more independent as i learn with my students.
Skills and Strategies (Practice)
In this section i feel ok with my students. They have opened up since day one. They have wrote in their journals
and have done every assignment that was issued to them. The skills i am learning will help me become a better teacher in the
future. Its more of a trail and error with my students the poetry units are coming together.
Knowledge Content (Practice)
the knowledge that i am gaining is alot. I am getting a better understanding of the literary elements and genre.
the end of this course the knowledge i gain in children's literature well be very helpful to me. The discussions are very
entry level with my students and i hope we all are learning together. I believe with futher lessons with the students i will
be gain knowledge of the content and be build on that.
Use of Prior and Emerging Experience (understanding)
my prior experience is none. Especially with poetry. This is a new to me. When i look at poetry i feel that
i need to rhyme or something close to that nature. I am emerging into writing poetry for the first time in my life.
This will help me with futher adventures in poetry.
Critical Reflection (understanding, practice, professional identity)
when i first started this class i was very optimistic. The gaining of knowledge in children's literature has been
a turning point. The differant genres and elements that will assist in me being a better teacher for my future students.
Poetry has been a challenge and i feel that i am learning with the students. I hope to implement the course strand technology
more but the other three communication, research/content, and collaboration seem to be present. I think technology plays
a important role in education today. I think with more practice, understanding, and gaining knowledge i will be a more
effective teacher.
