Five dimensions of learning
Confidence and independence
well my confidence got stronger as the semester progressed with my students. the independence was ok. I felt i
did a good job in the poetry practicum.
knowledge content
The knowledge i gained in the poetry practicum was very rewarding. The different poems we wrote and how to write
poems. From shape poems to diamante poems. The students told me they had fun learning new ways to write poems.
They don't necessarilly have to rhyme. the other thing i gained was the genre on childrens literature and literary elements
knowledge which help us win in joepardy!
Skills and Strategies
The skills i learn was to write different types of poetry. The strategies was just to dive in the poetry and see
were it takes us. The students that were in my group opened up doors on their worlds. They felt that it help them
deal with drama in their lives which is sometimes overwhelming for some. The skills that i learned in the poetry practicum
well be very benefical when i become a teacher.
Use of Prior and Emerging Experience
The prior knowledge that i brought to the practicum was how to keep hallmark in business. The emerging experience was
that i can write poetry. This was the first time that i will write a poem for my wife instead of the other eleven years
of hallmark cards she gets for our anniversary.
Reflectiveness
the experience and the stories that i gained from the poetry practicum was very rewarding. I met students that
are just like me at that age. I felt they trusted me with their stories they had to tell in their journals.
The class was very informative. It help me understand more of the literary elements and genres.
